Have you heard about 21st Century Education?

This week's topic is, as the name suggests, 21st century learning concept.

21st century learning actually means that education should be versatile. In this century, it is no longer enough to be successful in courses such as mathematics and science. Besides these; It is also necessary to be qualified in skilss such as; critical thinking, problem-solving or digital literacy etc.

In the future, when students enter business life, they will need to be better equipped so that they can make a difference. For example, when an engineer graduates, there are some factors that are sought after. Such as; his/her communication with people, how he/she copes with problems, and most importantly, which is no longer a criterion but an expected feature, his/her knowledge of a language (at least one). So knowing a language is no longer a plus, not knowing it is a minus.

In addition, language teachers are also expected to have the characteristics described above. For example, teachers need to use technology correctly and effectively in lessons so that their students are familiar with it.

There is no doubt that technology needs to be integrated to make the language learning process more attractive and easily accessible.

The fact that teachers can assign homework online and check it remotely rather than in the classroom is a great convenience for teachers and a great opportunity for students to engage with the internet.

Moreover, with its incredible production speed, the internet now provides us with a wider pool of information than books. There is a video I would like to share with you to further connect this post with the topic. 😊
